Shaun Nauman spent his formative years roaming the Rocky Mountains, splitting time between Boulder and Aspen, where he strapped on his first pair of planks at the age of four. He resided in the San Juans in his early adult years, which fed his addiction to the snow and eventually inspired his interest in sustainable living, climate change, and snow study. Shaun is currently in Boulder where he is working towards his Masters in Geography with an emphasis in snow hydrology at the University of Colorado. In addition to his study, his work covers a variety of topics in the genre of backcountry snowboarding. Shaun is an advocate for avalanche education and awareness, and is an AIARE Level 1 qualified instructor.
