Lofty goals can become a reality with a strong team of stakeholders. In the past year alone, an estimated 250,000 AT setups were sold world wide, with beacon sales following at half that number (around 100,000). Throw in the fact that in North America we only saw 11,000 students in avalanche courses and you can see the need for change. With your collective support, The Avalanche Project can continue to spread awareness, initiate positive programs and lead the movement to effectively change the landscape when it comes to backcountry travel and education. We are looking for individuals, organizations and companies alike who strive to see a positive change.
How to Get Involved:
Donate – The Avalanche Project is a collaboration of North American mountain industry professionals – avalanche workers, educators, equipment manufacturers, retailers, trade groups, and associations – who recognize the need for behavioral and cultural change among backcountry travelers in and around avalanche terrain. Donate now to support our effort in growing the Safety Culture in our backcountry community.
Get Educated – With hundreds of certified Avalanche Education Course Providers, take the first step in furthering your backcountry education and take a course. It’s the quickest and easiest way to learn the skills you need and translate them into informed backcountry travel.
Spread the Word – This is a message that resonates with many of us, so let’s spread it. Whether it’s sharing our website with your friends, tagging us on social media (facebook, instagram, twitter), writing articles, hosting events or incorporating messaging into your organizations safety plan or marketing, help us reach more people.
Share your Story – We’re a wealth of knowledge together and we all have a story to tell. Let’s build a community that learns from our mistakes. We’re looking for written, video and photo stories of your avalanche experiences in the field. If you’ve got a story to share, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to add to the conversation.
Become Part of the Coalition – Join the effort of industry stakeholders. Whether you’re a retailer, manufacturer, forecast center, brand or outdoor organization, we’d love to get you involved. Drop us a line and let’s have a conversation.
